Sneak peek – Jenny and Matt Rock their Wedding!

Although Shelley and Kevin live very close to me in Hertfordshire, they spent a weekend at Tuddenham Mill last year where Kevin proposed and they both decided it was also the perfect location to have their wedding.

The weather on the day was forecast to be showers but luckily we only had one so it didn’t dampen anybody’s spirits – it also meant we could walk the beautiful grounds around the Mill after the ceremony for some stunning portrait images. Kevin’s sister sang for the couple at their evening reception, which left everyone in the room with a lump in their throat and a glisten in their eye – it was so emotional!

Please enjoy these images from their wonderful day….

Meanwhile, the guys were arriving – this is one of Kevin’s ushers parking Kevin’s pride and joy – a Porsche Boxter – also the name of the couple’s top table for the wedding breakfast!

Shelley’s little nephew – what a cutie! He’s going to be very popular with the ladies when he’s a bit older….

I was taking Shelley’s portrait when her father made his presence known (by saying, “Anybody changing their name today?)” as he came up the steps outside the loft room – I love the expression on Shelley’s face – it says everything!

Kirsty and Ben chose to get married at the very beautiful Grim’s Dyke Hotel in Harrow, NW London. Fewer words this time – just images doing the talking….

Sneak peek – Jenny and Matt Rock their Wedding!

I met up with Tanya and James a few weeks ago to do a pre-wedding shoot with them and they chose Teddington Lock, which is near to the venue they were going to be married in – The Landmark Arts Centre. For the wedding day itself, they wanted to do the portrait shots before the ceremony (something which is a great idea – it gives us much more time to capture some beautiful images and there are fewer pressures on the bride and groom). They left me to choose where to do them as they didn’t really want to visit the same location again. So on the day, we found ourselves whisked off to a part of Richmond Park which I had scouted out a few weeks beforehand. Tanya had two dresses – one for the shoot and the reception and a traditionally red-coloured one for the ceremony – both of which were stunning and very heavy!

After the shoot, the Hindu wedding ceremony itself took place inside the Landmark – a former church – beautiful colours, customs and traditions intermingled with fantastic food and dancing made for a spectacular day. Here are some of their images and many thanks to my assistant for the day, Jon Mold.

And James getting ready, shot my my assistant for the day, Jon

And so off to Richmond Park….

One of Jon’s…

After a few formals, time for a couple more portrait shots in the grounds

And then some dancing…

Some music…

And the food!

Nicola and George are both doctors and as a consequence, their wedding was meticulously planned down to the last detail. Nicola is Greek and George is Indian, so although George had an Indian blessing ceremony beforehand with his family, the wedding itself was all-out Greek Orthodox – and what fun! The wedding ceremony took place at a little church I’ve been driving past for years, imagining it to have a sleepy little congregation-  not a bit of it! 150 guests (and a choir) crammed themselves in there on a day when the temperature reached 31 degrees. After the ceremony we all drove to Hatfield House’s Old Palace, where the celebrations really got going!

There was no time to take any portrait shots of the couple before the wedding breakfast so we took some time out from the reception later (when it had cooled down a little) and got some stonking images in the beautiful grounds. Thanks to Annamarie Stepney for assisting and second shooting on the day. Here are some of them….

These are the ‘crowns’ which Nicola and George wear during the wedding ceremony – the guests sign the ribbons…

Nicola’s Maid of Honour from Crete, Stavroulla – Amy Winehouse, anyone?

Sneak peek – Jenny and Matt Rock their Wedding!

I used to work in the same company as Liz and when she’d heard I was now a wedding photographer, she got in touch and booked me for her wedding, which took place last weekend. She and Kevin are both mad keen into fitness and met doing an extreme race a couple of years ago. The location for the wedding, the Grim’s Dyke Hotel is tucked away within its own beautiful grounds in North West London and was the home of W.S. Gilbert, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame.

The grounds were in full bloom on the day, and even though the weather was hot and humid, we avoided any rain – thankfully, as there was a barbeque on the lawn after the wedding ceremony! Liz and Kevin kindly made me a guest during the evening, which allowed me to catch up with some friends from the days when we all worked in Harrow on the Hill.

This a detail of the fierce-looking fireplace in the main ceremony room. What’s it meant to depict….the devil or a friendly fawn…?

Sneak peek – Jenny and Matt Rock their Wedding!

Claire and Dudley were married last year but they were disappointed by two aspects of their wedding: 1. It rained…..a lot. 2. The photographer was allocated to them by their hotel and did (if you don’t mind my opinion here folks) a pretty awful job – harsh flash shadows everywhere, staid, traditional images and not very inspiring images generally. So the couple, when planning their renewal of vows ceremony, didn’t want to miss their chance to finally get some stunning images to be placed  within a custom-designed  album. That’s where I came in – they were guests at a wedding I shot last year and booked me to document their second very special day.

Sunday was an awful day for weather to begin with – it was raining and windy and I was beginning to despair of ever getting any shots in the beautiful grounds of this prestigious venue in Ware. However, once the ceremony and the meal was over, the rain stopped and the wind dropped – hooray! Off we went…..

I loved the flowers they chose –  roses and orchids – a beautiful and unusual choice. Claire is also expecting their first child but the dress she wore was exquisite, and showed her bump off perfectly!

Oh, and Fanhams Hall has some of the best food I’ve ever eaten at a wedding – check out the shots of what they (and in the case of the prawn cocktail – I) had to eat…….mmm!

Sneak peek – Jenny and Matt Rock their Wedding!

The weather was glorious last Saturday, which cherred everyone up – having had a pretty wet and wild Easter! I arrived at Hanbury Manor near Ware early Saturday morning to capture rebecca, her mum and her four bridesmaids getting ready, sipping champagne and generally enjoying the morning! Abi was a picture of calm when I later got to the church, where all the guests from home and abroad were waiting. Abi is Nigerian, so many of his family and friends had travelled here and were wearing the most gloriously coloured national dress. We returned to Hanbury Manor for the formal shots and just enough time for some portraits with Rebecca and Abi in the grounds.

This was my first wedding with a couple of new Canon ‘L’ (pro) series lenses and I absolutely love the look of the images I got with them – simply beautiful! Have a look….

Sneak peek – Jenny and Matt Rock their Wedding!

Well, you’ve already seen all the beautiful details of this wedding, including the stunning landscape of Sorrento and Positano. Here are the wedding images of a great couple, Bairbre and Gerard. The natural light in Positano is exceptional and because there are white walls everywhere, every surface acts as a giant softbox, diffusing and spreading the light. As a photographer, I really was spoilt on this trip!

This is Bairbre and Gerard’s beautiful daughter, who was their flowergirl – she wanted some make up like her mum! She also did some singing (‘The Wheels on the Bus’) for everyone at the reception too!

And so onto the reception, held in a fantastic Italian restaurant back in Sorrento – I have NEVER eaten Italian food as good as that in my life (and I’m part Italian myself)! Many thanks to Bairbre and Gerard for feeding me!
